YWCA Minneapolis established the Woman of Power Award five years ago to honor women from the private and public sectors from across the Twin Cities who have demonstrated commitment, enthusiasm and support for the mission and values of YWCA Minneapolis. Award recipients are recognized leaders and inspiring role models who have championed racial justice and gender equity throughout their careers and community work. Previous years’ award recipients include Maria Regan Gonzales, Shelley Carthen Watson, Sharon Sayles Belton and Kim Nelson.
